The Real Decreto 930/1992 establishes labeling guidelines for products that are sold to consumers, restaurants, hospitals, and other establishments.

This rule establishes the obligatory of nutritional labeling when in the label, the presentation or publicity, except publicity related to generic products, appears the mention of which the product has nutritional properties.

Physicochemical Analysis

QUANTITATIVE INDICATION OF INGREDIENTS (QUID)

From the take effect of Real Decreto 1334/1999, it is obligatory the quantitative indication of ingredients (QUID) in the three situations indicated next:

  1. When the ingredient or the ingredient’s category figures in the sale’s denomination or the consumer associates it in general with the sale’s denomination.
  2. When labeling emphasizes the ingredient or the ingredient’s category by words, images, or graphic representation.
  3. When the ingredient or ingredient’s category is essential to define a food product and to distinguish of products with which it was possible to be confused because its denomination or its aspect.
